Literacy In Science

On this Website:

Welcome to my literacy plan for secondary education science!  I have targeted my literacy plan for middle school aged learners.  On this website, you will have the opportunity to view some of the instructional strategies that I believed would be effective methods to incorporate literacy into my science classroom, as they are adaptable to meet an array of educational needs of the learners within my classroom.

About the Website Author:

My name is Amanda Dlugi, and I am a professionally motivated student of senior-standing at Alverno College pursing degrees in biology and broad-field science with a minor in secondary education.

I have been fortunate over the past five years to have attended a small, liberal arts institute whose rigorous standards within the science and education programs have challenged and prepared me, as well as confirmed my true passion for the fields of science and education.
Throughout my academic career at Alverno College, my educational and professional goals for myself have continued to develop and expand.

After achieving my undergraduate degrees in December of 2015, my professional goals include attaining a position that encompasses both science and education.  I cannot wait to have my own, unique, diverse classroom of learners to have the opportunity to assist in developing their abilities in science through an array of educational approaches to allow for their best learning.

As part of my long-term professional development plan, my ultimate professional goal is to continue my higher education by pursuing graduate school and earning my Ph.D., with strong hopes of being a research educator.  I would absolutely love to be able to teach science at a college level alongside pursing research in a field of science that fascinates me and be able to incorporate my findings into my classroom.
